Sweet Dinner Rolls
Sorry for the lousy picture above; this picture was taken at a friends house for whom the rolls were made. She requested yeast rolls for her annual "friend" Thanksgiving dinner. As you know, I have a yummy yeast roll recipe but I wanted to try a different one just to have options.
I'm so glad I found this recipe. The rolls actually taste less "yeasty" then the other one's and are easier to make. The texture is different however, these are more firm and sweet (but not over powering sweet).
Just like the one's you might buy at your local supermarket. I think this is the perfect go-to roll, especially if you've never made your own before.
Once you've mixed your dough, you're ready to form the balls and let it rise. Just cut the dough ball into quarters and then quarter each of those.
I used a 9x13 inch pan. Grease it with cooking spray and then let rise for about an hour. Make sure it's in a warm, draft free area.
Before putting them in the oven you'll want to brush them with melted butter. Once out of the oven you'll want to brush them again with melted butter. Salted butter is best here.
They're done when the tops are nicely golden in color.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup white sugar
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter, softened
1 egg
3-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup butter, softened
In a microwave safe dish, microwave the water and the milk for about 1 minute. Pour the warm liquids into the bowl of your stand mixer and using the paddle attachment add the sugar; stir until dissolved. Add the yeast and let set for 10-20 minutes. You should notice it beginning to look foamy.
Turn the mixer on low and add the salt, butter and egg. Add the flour 1/4 at a time and then switch to the dough hook. Let the machine knead the dough for 5-10 minutes until smooth.
Remove the dough from the bowl and cut it into 16 even pieces and shape them into balls by pulling the top down and tucking it under the bottom so that the top is smooth and rounded. Grease a 9x13 inch oven proof dish and place the balls evenly in the dish. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and set in a warm, draft free area to rise for about an hour.
Once risen they should all be touching each other and have doubled in size. Brush each roll with melted butter and put into a 400 degree pre-heated oven. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and brush again with melted butter.
Best if served warm.
